Winter Fitness Motivation
Winter is well upon us and that means it’s just that little bit harder to get out of bed and just that little be harder to stay motivated about exercise.
Just remember though, Summer bodies are built in Winter so here are my top tips for staying motivated during the cooler months. Winter fitness motivation – Bodyswitch style!
Warm up inside
Before you run out into the bleak cold -warm up inside. This will get the blood flowing and will help get you motivated meaning you won’t be in for such a shock when you head out the door.
Think of the money
Think about the money you are wasting by not going to the gym, or not attending those private classes you and your friend signed up for. Think of what you could have spent that money on. Don’t waste it!
Have a goal
Whether you are exercising during winter or summer, it’s always important to have a goal to aim for. This can range from a target weight loss every month, or simply wanting to run 3km everyday. Try to have an overall goal that you can work towards, but then also have smaller weekly goals. These smaller goals keep you motivated along the path to reaching the larger goal. One goal may be to run a half marathon in Spring. Sometimes an impending deadline gives you that little bit of motivation to brave the cold.
Bring the exercise to you
If worse comes to worse and you really can’t bare the cold any longer, invest in in-home personal training. Knowing that you won’t have to travel, training can be worked around your family and work commitments and that your training is now weather proof should leave you with few excuses for getting out of your fitness routine!
Reward Yourself
It’s always good to acknowledge when you reach a goal so go on – reward yourself! Not with a big slab of mud cake, but possibly a new dress 🙂
